        CHAUNCEY BLAIR BORLAND, son of John Jay and Harriet Olivia (Blair) Borland, was born in Chicago, November 26, 1878. He graduated from the Lawrenceville, New Jersey, School in 1897, matriculated at Harvard University from which he was graduated with his A. B. degree in 1901. He then attended Harvard Law School for one year. He was with John H. Wrenn & Company in 1902-03; with the Northern Trust Company, 1903-04; since that date he has been manager in charge of the Borland properties and buildings, showing much skill in the management of the real estate. Mr. Borland, in addition to these business interests, is president of the Borland Manufacturing Company; a director of the Illinois Merchants Trust Company, of the Chicago Railways Company, and the Building Manufacturers' Association. His philanthropic and humanitarian interests are wide and definite in scope. He is trustee and secretary of St. Luke's Hospital; trustee of the John Crerar Library and of the Old People's Home, Chicago. He is also a member of the executive committee of Chicago's Crime Commission. His clubs are: Chicago, University, Saddle and Cycle, Chicago Athletic, Commercial, Onwentsia (Chicago); Harvard (Chicago, New York, and Boston); New York Yacht, Eastern Yacht (Marblehead, Massachusetts).
        Chauncey Blair Borland married, June 23, 1904, Belle McCullough, of Chicago. Her father was Hiram R. McCullough (q.v.), and her mother was Martha M. Hughitt, daughter of Marvin Hughitt (q. v.)
